A&M Scotland is a registered SCIO based in Glasgow that delivers programmes of diversionary activity to young people from areas of high social deprivation.
They have just been nominated for a 2016 Charity Champion Award which is a fantastic reflection on all the amazing work they are doing.
They are currently work across 30 different communities in Glasgow, utilising 40 venues on 6 evenings per week. A&MScotland work with up to 1500 young people each week and have around 2000 individuals registered to take part in their activities. For example on a Friday evening they normally deliver services to over 400 young people, both male and female, aged 9-18, between the hours of 6 and 10pm.
A&M Scotland have lots of great fund raising events and you can find out more about all the fantastic work they do and get involved via their Facebook page A&MScotland Facebook
It was fantastic to be able to support them with our Eco for Life Bottled waters which they were very pleased to receive via our donation to http://www.inkinddirect.org/ who distribute products to thousands of charity’s across the UK. The images here are taken from their youth dance classes.
Diversionary activities take the form of sports, physical activity, group-work, volunteering, employability and personal development sessions. They improve young people’s physical and mental health and well-being, confidence and self-esteem, aspirations, personal responsibility and life chances by engaging them in weekly, structured, positive activities that work across communities and are delivered by role models (experienced and trained youth workers/coaches.)
