Nestling at the heart of Wensleydale in the tranquil beauty of the Yorkshire Dales, The Jonas Centre is uniquely positioned to provide all that is needed for individuals and groups, seeking relaxation, to enjoy all that the Dales has to offer.
In 1995 four people shared a vision to find a place where families and groups could get away from the strains and stresses of everyday life.
On the 1st of October 1996, The Jonas Centre opened for business and 20 years on that vision is still a reality.
The Jonas Centre is open to all, regardless of gender, culture, disability, race or religious belief or affiliation and offers low cost holiday to bring groups, families and individuals closer together.
They offer subsidised respite breaks or quiet reflection breaks for those suffering bereavement. Severe or long term illness brings about many stresses such as loss of employment, income, unpredictability of health, inability to travel far; all of which they recognise as adding greater stresses to already difficult situations which the Centre can help with.
Situated in the rural location of the Yorkshire Dales, the Centre has a natural water supply from a borehole 140 feet below ground. Over recent years the fluoride level has increased to a point where the local authority has asked that we supply bottled water to any guests who may have medical conditions that excess fluoride may cause them problems.
Simon Eastwood the Centre Director said “It’s been a drain on the resources of the charity to have to buy in bottles water from the supermarket and when we saw the Eco-Life bottles available from Inkind Direct we snapped them up. We hope to soon be connected to the local village supply but in the meantime we are looking forward to ordering more bottles to keep us going. Guests have loved the eco-friendly nature of the product particularly the fascination that the bottles are made from plants.”
